  • Recondition an engine
The Derby Auto Mechanic starts the engine reconditioning by removing the bad parts of the engine. This includes everything from the camshaft to the spark plugs. We will also remove any belts, hoses, and other components that are connected to the engine. Once all of the bad parts are out, we can start cleaning them up.
Next, the mechanic will replace any broken parts with new ones. This includes everything from the pistons to the crankshaft. We will make sure to use quality parts and seal them properly so that water cannot get inside of them. Once all of the broken parts have been replaced, we will reattach any connectors and belts.
Finally, the mechanic installs the engine case back onto the engine, making sure that all of the bolts, screws, and washers are installed correctly. Then, we attach any connectors and belts that were removed.

At times, brake fluid lines may be damaged and need replacement. We can also top-up or replace the brake fluid as required. Bleeding the brakes is necessary after brake reconditioning. Our mechanics will complete the brake-bleeding to your satisfsction.l
  • Recondition vehicle interior
Repairing auto upholstery can be complicated. The first step is to identify the type of material you want to use. Most car upholstery is constructed of synthetic fabric blends, but vinyl, leather, and microfiber are also common, each requiring a slightly different approach. Next, we assess the extent of the damage. Small rips and tears need different treatment than stains or burns, and knowing exactly what you’re dealing with will help you select the right products and guide your repair plan. Not all auto upholstery restoration projects can be achieved without using specialised equipment – Derby Auto Mechanics’ associated professionals can make auto interior restorations so effectively that your vehicle may feel like new.

  • Recondition vehicle exterior (Detailing)
If your car has old wax on it, dish soap and water is used to wash it off. The car is then washed with an old rag or a good wash mitt.
Thick microfiber towels are used to partially dry the vehicle before using a blower to dry the vehicle.
Claying a vehicle is the process of removing debris that washing alone cannot eliminate. The clay bar is kneaded until it’s flat, then a detail lubricant is sprayed on the vehicle then buffed with your clay bar. The body, windows, tail lamps, and headlamps of the vehicle are carefully clayed.
Polishing is recommended after claying. Compound and buffing pads are then selected. If no paint correction is needed, this step can be skipped.
To increase the gloss and depth of the paint, car glaze is applied and polished thoroughly over the exterior of the vehicle. Only one coat is needed for maximum results.
Sealant is then applied to protect the vehicle from the elements. The sealant will bond to the paint and provide protection for several months. Each coat of sealant will cure and bond to the paint.
We will wax the vehicle in sections and allow it to dry or cure for at least an hour and up to 24 hours.
We then clean and dry the tires and wheels. Drive the vehicle a few feet after applying the each coat of tyre dressing.
Next, we degrease your trim, then apply a dressing that offers UV protection.
To minimize streaking, our vehicle-detailing associates use a little glass cleaner. We do not use ammonia-based glass cleaners as it can damage windows are tinted.
  • Recondition vehicle exterior (Respray)
Derby Auto Mechanics with its associates can respray your vehicle.
We remove all trims, paint, mouldings, door mirrors, handles, and lights.
Then we repair any damage, dents, or rust as much as possible.
Next filler is added as needed, then sanded down and shaped.
A primer that sticks to the filler is applied and allows us to paint on top of it.
The painting area is then thoroughly washed.
The surface is cleaned using a paper towel or screen wipe and a solvent cleaner such as IPA or similar spirit wipe. The surface is then buffed to a smear-free finish.
The area to be sprayed is then masked.
We then spray the masked area.
The lacquer is allowed to “harden” before waxing, ideally for 2-3 days.
